The History Center presents a variety of programs and events exploring different, sometimes surprising, aspects of Central Florida, Florida, and national history. There's something for everyone at the History Center, from special exhibition-related daytime events to book club meetings and guest speakers featuring artists, authors, and experts in their fields. Retro Game Night

Now you can play more games including Parcheesi, Pictionary, and Chinese Checkers, plus old favorites such as Clue, Battleship, Candy Land, Scrabble, Mystery Date, Twister, video games, and many more. 7 p.m.-midnight. Smithsonian Museum Day

The History Center joins the nationwide Smithsonian Museum Day by opening its doors free of charge to SMITHSONIAN magazine readers and Smithsonian.com visitors who present their free "Smithsonian Museum Day" admission ticket, good for two, available online at www.smithsonianmag.com. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Call (407) 836-8500 for information.

History Center 10th Anniversary Party
Saturday, October 2

Join us in celebrating the Orange County Regional History Center’s 10th anniversary in the historic 1927 courthouse in downtown Orlando. Enjoy a festive day full of activities, surprises, and refreshments in Heritage Square in front of the History Center and visit the museum and the Against All Odds: The Art of the Highwaymen special anniversary exhibit. 2000 opening day admission prices of $7 for adults, $6.50 seniors (60+), students, and military with I.D., $3.50 for children ages 5-12, Historical Society Members and children ages 4 and under are free. 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Highwaymen Weekend
Saturday, November 20-Sunday, November 21

Celebrate Highwaymen Weekend and meet some of the original Florida Highwaymen artists behind the uniquely Florida paintings and visit Against All Odds: The Art of the Highwaymen exhibit. Different Highwaymen will be on hand each day to display their work and explain how they managed to prosper despite facing adversity in the segregated South. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. Two-day Highwayman Weekend admission ticket for $15 is available.

Happy Hour for the History Center at Urban Flats, Downtown
Tuesday, December 7

Join us for a holiday happy hour and enjoy unlimited wine and appetizers. 6-7:30 p.m. $20 per ticket, proceeds support History Center programs for children and adults. Call (407) 836-8590 or click here to purchase tickets.

Special 10th Anniversary Civil War Fashion Show

Get a glimpse into life during the Civil War era! This must-see runway show includes men’s, women’s, and children’s 1860s fashions and features civilian and military, North and South, black and white, and young and old. $10, Members free.
