History in a Glass: A Slice of History

A Libation Competition for the Ages
Thursday, October 25, 6 – 9 p.m.

In our History in a Glass series, local craft bartenders compete for bragging rights by creating libations linked to historical themes and artifacts.

Our autumn event takes its inspiration from a Civil War surgeon’s kit in the History Center’s collection. What made a good Civil War surgeon? Education, experience, deft fingers, and tools! On the battlefield, Army surgeons carried out nearly 60,000 amputations. Soldiers dreaded a visit from the “butchers.”

Enjoy great food and music, plus three hand-crafted cocktails. The three establishments whose bartenders will be competing in our competition are: The Osprey Tavern, Tuffy’s Bottle Shop & Lounge, and Wine Bar George. The liquor supplier will be Red Rider Whisky and the food vendor will be King Bao. Members $20, non-members $25.  This event is for guests 21 and older.

Doors open at 6 p.m., cocktail competition and drink service starts at 6:30.
