Get ready for Valentine’s Day and join Francine Segan, noted food historian and cookbook author, for an amusing discussion on aphrodisiacs from ancient Egyptian times through the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and into today. Discover the foods reported to have unleashed passion in everyone from Cleopatra to the Marquis de Sade while sampling classic aphrodisiac dishes. Explore the stories behind aphrodisiacs including frog saliva, rhinoceros horns, oysters, truffles, caviar, and more. Segan is the author of five cookbooks including “Shakespeare’s Kitchen” and “Opera Lover’s Cookbook” and has been nominated for both James Beard and IACP awards. She is frequently quoted as a food expert for national newspapers and has been featured in many TV specials for the History and Discovery channels and the Food Network.
