Lunch & Learn: Florida’s Snubbed Cow Culture

The folks who worked raising cattle in Florida long forged their own legacy in the swamps, prairies, and pinewoods of the Sunshine State – until a smear campaign in August 1895 painted the state’s cow culture in a less-than-flattering light. Discover the history of our state’s distinctive ranching traditions and the stories of iconic figures who shaped our cow past and continue to influence our cow present.

About Our Speaker
Cheyenne Stastyshyn serves as the public programs coordinator at the Orange County Regional History Center, applying a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Central Florida to create captivating educational experiences. Their journey into historical education began with an internship at the museum in 2019, igniting a passion that stems from their family’s four-generation legacy of educators and scientists in Central Florida. Cheyenne is committed to illuminating Florida’s developmental journey through innovative programming, leaving a lasting impact on the cultural landscape of Orange County and beyond.
