Orange County Heritage Day: Gator Tales

Free Family Fun Day
Saturday, January 22, 2022, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Did you know that the Southeastern United States is one of only two places on Earth where alligators can be found? That makes the giant American alligators of Florida truly special. Join us for a day filled with fun activities that celebrate these unique and fascinating beasts.
Drop-in activities from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., include:
• The Florida Fauna Trivia Prize Wheel: Spin to select a trivia category and win a prize if you get the question right.
• A Florida Everglades Watershed demonstration: Participate in a demonstration about how our actions in Central Florida affect the habitat of alligators and other animals in the Everglades.
• Alligator Puppet Craft: Make your own paper alligator hand puppet to take home.
• Alligator Scavenger Hunt: Find all the alligators in our exhibits to win a prize.
Plus:
• Meet an American Alligator, presented by staff from the Tibet Butler Preserve at 11 a.m.
• Enjoy a screening of Raya and the Last Dragon at noon (complimentary popcorn and shaved ice treats included).

It’s a great day for fun selfies while checking out our latest special exhibition, Giants, Dragons, and Unicorns: The World of Mythic Creatures, from the American Museum of Natural History, now extended through May 8, 2022. Please observe social-distancing guidelines. Wearing a mask is recommended.
