Preserving Your History Series: Genealogy

In this segment we will be exploring your family history. Have you ever wondered where your family comes from or how you can track your lineage? Join genealogy experts from the Central Florida Genealogical Society as they help you track down your family legacy and show you ways to continue the exploration on your own! Additionally, we will have a lightbox available so you can photograph any family heirlooms.
In this session, every participant will be provided with a packet to get them started with tracking your family lineage. Each ticket ensures you will meet with an expert from the Central Florida Genealogical Society, and you are automatically entered into a raffle drawing for Genealogy Album Kit from Gaylord Archival®! Winners will be announced at the session.
Preserving Your History Series: Making a Time Capsule
Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 1 – 4 p.m.
Create time capsules that will help preserve your precious heirlooms, including photographs, jewelry, fabric, and more! Bring items that can fit within a 12” x 10” x 5” box and we will help you store them. Additionally, we will have a lightbox available so you can photograph those heirlooms before they are stored!
Every participant will be provided with a Gaylord Archival® Blue/Grey Barrier Board Flip-Top International A4 Size Document Case and a class from the History Center’s Collection Manager on how to preserve your precious family heirlooms and documents. Preserving Your History Series: Oral History
Wednesday, September 17, 2025, 1 – 4 p.m.
Learn the art of documenting your family’s history with oral history! This practice has long existed as a way to pass stories down generation to generation. Learn how to document these oral histories, the questions you might want to ask your family members, and more! Additionally, we will have a lightbox available so you can photograph any family heirlooms.
Every participant will be provided with a Gaylord Archival® Waterproof Stone Paper Notebook to get you started on your oral history journey!
