Historically Poetic

Thursday, November 7, 6 p.m., free

How can history be held in a poem? Join us for in-person readings by Orlando’s first poet laureate, Susan Lilley, as well as other area poets, authors, and participants in our historical poetry competition!

The winner of our poetry contest to be included in our exhibition, The Accidental Historian, is “Hurricane Season” by Terry Godbey. Judges found the poem embodied the spirit of Central Florida and immersed the reader in a moment and place, while weaving in personal reflection. Godbey will read her winning submission at the event.
