Lunch & Learn: World War II Through Its Witnesses

Friday, May 7, 2021

On May 8, 1945, the Allied powers in World War II formally accepted Germany’s surrender, ending World War II in Europe. This special Lunch & Learn program commemorates the 76th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, or V-E Day, through oral histories in the History Center’s collection.

World War II is remembered as a cataclysm that killed tens of millions of people, and it is important to hear the words of the individuals who survived. We’ll look at oral histories from people who fought in WWII, survived the war as civilians, and tell their family’s stories as descendants of the WWII generation.

Please join the History Center’s oral historian, Dan Bradfield, and oral history archivist, Aleksandra Ciecielag-Floto, for this unique exploration into our oral history collection.

This is a free program through the Zoom platform.
